Coating Doctor Blade

Coating doctor blades have a carbon steel body that is plated on the surfaces to greatly improve original doctor blade functionality. Coating doctor blades are available in four types suited for different applications.

SKN

This type of coating doctor blade has a plated layer in which ceramic powder is mixed to increase wear resistance. This type has an extended service life to provide doctor blade functionality for a prolonged time.

SKF

This type of coating doctor blade has a plated layer in which fluorine resin powder is mixed to ensure water repellency. This type repels ink and is never ink-stained.

SKNF

This type of coating doctor blade has a double-layer structure that provides both wear resistance and water repellency.

SKC

This type of coating doctor blade uses a ceramic material and has low hardness while keeping wear resistance. With low hardness, this doctor blade can eliminate the concerns about damage to gravure rolls.

Plastic Doctor Blade

●Material Properties

Polyacetal Due to its superior mechanical properties polyacetal is used in a wide range of applications, including parts for use in industrial machinery. The use of polyacetal is recommended for cleaning of mirror-finished rolls, an application where steel blades cannot be used.

Polyethylene

Polyethylene is extremely shock resistant. It is a soft plastic, preventing crack formation and chipping. A comparison performed by our company shows that its wear resistance is nine times higher than polyacetal, allowing for gentle and smooth doctoring over a prolonged period of time.

Polyester

In addition to being hard and highly resistant to chemicals, polyester does not distort easily, providing high dimensional accuracy. It is recommended for use in film thickness control processes.

Backup Blade

Backup blades are essential items that affect the function of doctor blades. In recent years, the demand for high-precision doctor blades has been accompanied by growing demand for backup blades of equally high precision. Eco Blade offers slit-finished backup blades (standard specifications) and full grinding precision-finished backup blades (precision type). These are available in SK, SUS420 and SUS301.

●Material Properties

SK

This is a carbon steel and the standard material in a backup blade. SK is highly appreciated for its well-balanced physical properties.

SUS420

Chrome-containing martensitic stainless steel offering good resistance against rust. This heat treated material can be used in the same manner as SK. It is ideal for water based ink applications and applications which do not require frequent blade replacement.

SUS301

Nickel-containing austenitic stainless steel offering outstanding corrosion resistance. Although this material cannot be heat treated, cold work hardening provides use in springs.
