Doctor blades are used in a multitude of applications, requiring the blades to have a broad range of features. Printing applications such as gravure and flexographic printing require doctor blades which are effective with respect to the engraved rolls. Meanwhile, when doctor blades are used for cleaning such as in reverse roll coating, it is important to avoid damaging mirror-finished rolls. Even if the process remains the same, substrate and coating material may be different. There is an infinite number of line speeds and blade settings. No two applications are the same.
To address these various applications and conditions, Eco Blade bases its manufacturing on feedback received from customers to make original doctor blades with optimum specifications.

■In-House Production
Except ceramic blades, all doctor blades offered by Eco Blade are in-house products. Our blades are made using special proprietary doctor blade manufacturing equipment. We firmly believe that sticking to in-house production is indispensable when it comes to constructing a wide variety of customized blades. In addition to maintaining quality standards and high levels of precision, in-house production allows us to realize lead times for customized products as short as for standard items. For example, our standard production lead time for both steel and plastic blades is four days. Our in-house production allows us to offer you detail-oriented services.
Steel Doctor Blade
●Material Properties
SK SK is a carbon steel and the standard material in a wide range of blades. SK is highly appreciated for its well-balanced physical properties, giving rise to superior doctoring performance and allowing the use in a wide variety of applications.
SUS420 Chrome-containing martensitic stainless steel offering good resistance against rust. This heat treated material can be used in the same manner as SK. It is ideal for water based ink applications and applications which do not require frequent blade replacement.

Plastic Doctor Blade
●Material Properties
Polyacetal Due to its superior mechanical properties polyacetal is used in a wide range of applications, including parts for use in industrial machinery. The use of polyacetal is recommended for cleaning of mirror-finished rolls, an application where steel blades cannot be used.
Polyethylene Polyethylene is extremely shock resistant. It is a soft plastic, preventing crack formation and chipping. A comparison performed by our company shows that its wear resistance is nine times higher than polyacetal, allowing for gentle and smooth doctoring over a prolonged period of time.
Polyester In addition to being hard and highly resistant to chemicals, polyester does not distort easily, providing high dimensional accuracy. It is recommended for use in film thickness control processes.

●Custom Specifications
Eco Blade not only performs partially dimensional changes to standard edge configurations but also accommodates customer requests for fully customized products made from SK or SUS420. After determining material thickness, overall width and length, you can choose from seven possible edge configurations. Please provide us with detailed dimensional data of your doctor blades. We will cut the blades in accordance with your specifications.
Backup Blade
Backup blades are essential items that affect the function of doctor blades. In recent years, the demand for high-precision doctor blades has been accompanied by growing demand for backup blades of equally high precision. Eco Blade offers slit-finished backup blades (standard specifications) and full grinding precision-finished backup blades (precision type). These are available in SK, SUS420 and SUS301.

SK This is a carbon steel and the standard material in a backup blade. SK is highly appreciated for its well-balanced physical properties.
SUS420 Chrome-containing martensitic stainless steel offering good resistance against rust. This heat treated material can be used in the same manner as SK. It is ideal for water based ink applications and applications which do not require frequent blade replacement.
SUS301 Nickel-containing austenitic stainless steel offering outstanding corrosion resistance. Although this material cannot be heat treated, cold work hardening provides use in springs.

●Edge Finish
